Updates and upcoming races

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

All our runners at the weekend ran well, both Crash and The Crafty Butcher being second.  Laura was unlucky to just loseout in the bumper at Naas, while Crash returned to form and was second.  He will be given an entry in both the RSA Chase at the Diamond Jubilee NH Steeplechase at the Cheltenham Festival.

Racing is at Limerick on Wednesday and we have two runners in the bumper – Amigan Lady and Excuse Me Maria – both first time out.

Cloughmile is entered in the Thyestes at Gowran Park on Thursday however she is unlikely to get in.  She also holds an entry for another handicap chase on the day and will probably go there.

Dancing Tornado is our sole entry at Leopardstown on Saturday, he is in the Leopardstown Chase while Ballysteen is in the Grade 2 Novice Hurdle on Sunday.

We have a few point to pointers at Nenagh on Sunday, namely Gleneleg, The Flying Dustman and The Telavara – who was second on his last run. Hopefully he will be able to go one better this time.

The run up to Christmas racing

Friday, December 23rd, 2011

We have had a quiet week in the yard in the run up to Christmas racing.  Its kicks off on St Stephens Day – we have 3 runners at Limerick, Made For Sharing, False Messenger and Gizzit – all are expected to run well.

Our first Leopardstown runners will be Tuesday, with Ballysteen and The Crafty Butcher while recent winner Crash will be among the runners there on Wednesday.  Dancing Tornado will also return to action at Leopardstown in the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle on Thursday.

Among our entries for Limerick during the week are Hans Crescent, Cloughmile and Best Served Cold.

A New Story will also run on Tuesday – he came home ok after his Cheltenham mishap, where he was very unlucky.

Stable jockey Adrian Heskin faces Christmas on the sidelines after receiving a very harsh 12 day ban following Cheltenham.  It appeared to be a very harsh punishment, and is very unfortunate that he misses one of the busiest times of year for racing, particurlary as only 2 of the 7 jockeys involved received bans.

Cloughmile was a good winner at Gowran Park last weekend and she runs again this Sunday at Fairyhouse.
Our other runner over the weekend, also at Fairyhouse on Sunday is Debt To Society.  It is his first run on the track having been unlucky point to pointing.

Racing for the coming week is Clonmel on Thursday where we have a few entries and A New Story will head back to Cheltenham for Friday’s Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase.

Ballysteen was a good winner of the bumper at Cork yesterday. He was ridden by Robbie McNamara. It was his first run of the season and he will now go hurdling.

It looks like it will be a quiet week with just two entries at Thurles on Thursday – both on ballots. Racing at the weekend is a two day meeting at Galway where we will have runners.

Run With The Wind was a nice winner on the flat at Listowel on Thursday. He was ridden by Sam James and stayed on really well to get up and win by a nose after a long lay off for his new owner John O Hagan.
He will now go over hurdles.

We had very few winners over the week at Listowel, however Dancing Tornado ran well to finish 5th in the Kerry National and Dingaling also ran well finishing 3rd on Friday.

We have no runners this week until Friday, where we have entries in the rescheduled Listowel meeting and also an entry in Dundalk.

The point to points are back this weekend and we will have a few runners at Rathcannon.

Horses are starting to come back in

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

We have had a quiet few weeks at the yard as the horses came back in for the winter. We hope to have alot of them racing by the middle of September.

Racing this week is in Killarney where our first runners will be on Thursday.
