Lisaleen Stables
Lisaleen stables are currently the largest and most accomplished training facility in the Munster region and consistently among the top performing stables in the Country. This status has been achieved through a evolution of remarkable enormity. Michael Hourigan was born in Rathkeale the son of a cattle dealer where he took over the running of the family pub after he married his wife Ann in 1973.
Lisaleen stables were purchased in 1985 near the scenic, rural town of Adare, Co. Limerick.
Six years later none of them had housed a winner and thoughts of packing it in were to the fore when then on that fateful St. Patrick’s day in 1979, a horse called Ramrajy landed the 2.10 at Limerick and all thoughts of quitting perished. The hardships began to lessen although he still had no proper training facilities.
After an exhaustive search of the island for suitable premises, Lisaleen stables were purchased in 1985 near the scenic, rural town of Adare, Co. Limerick.
